SELF Nairobi September Workshop

Nairobi, Kenya | 14-15 September 2025

As part of our ongoing collaboration with the East, Central, and Southern Africa College of Nursing and Midwifery (ECSACONM), this upcoming workshop in Nairobi, Kenya will convene ECSACONM-affiliated developers to further progress on simulation-based training modules in high-priority clinical areas. You can view the current list of modules under development at www.self.surgery/ecsaconm.

Building on the foundational work and module specifications established during previous workshops in Zimbabwe and Malawi, this session will focus on completing the remaining components of each module, including:

  • Knowledge Teaching: Structuring core instructional content and identifying effective delivery formats.

  • Clinical Cases: Designing scenario sets to strengthen reasoning and decision-making skills.

  • Psychomotor Training & Assessment: Defining and outlining task practice, performance metrics, and self-administered skills assessment tools.

  • Simulator Development: Advancing physical simulator designs, materials, and build guidelines.

  • Evidence: Identifying data needs and approaches to evaluate module effectiveness.

By the end of the workshop, the goal is for the participants to leave with a clear, actionable development plan to move toward complete and testable simulation modules.
