SELF Workshop on Evaluation and Research
Nairobi, Kenya | 13 September 2025
As part of the collaboration with the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS), this workshop in Nairobi brought together PAACS faculty and affiliated researchers involved in surgical education and clinical training, particularly those with an interest in research and evaluation. The goal was to review and advance strategies for evaluating the real-world impact of SELF training modules. The workshop also spotlighted ongoing research efforts across several African countries and explored new opportunities for collaborative research.
Key Objectives of the Workshop:
Built shared understanding of current evaluation efforts underway across SELF.
Created opportunities for PAACS faculty to participate in future module research.
Identified training sites for expanded evaluation activities.
Established a stronger partnership between PAACS and SELF on research strategy and module development.
