SELF Workshop on Evaluation and Research

Nairobi, Kenya | 13 September 2025

As part of our collaboration with the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS), this upcoming workshop in Nairobi will bring together PAACS faculty and affiliated researchers involved in surgical education and clinical training, particularly those with an interest in research and evaluation. The goal is to review and advance strategies for evaluating the real-world impact of SELF training modules. The workshop will also spotlight ongoing research efforts across several African countries and explore new opportunities for collaborative research.

Key Objectives of the Workshop:

  • Build shared understanding of current evaluation efforts underway across SELF

  • Create opportunities for PAACS faculty to participate in future module research

  • Identify training sites for expanded evaluation activities

  • Establish stronger partnership between PAACS and SELF on research strategy and module development
